"No" means that DEL is on the left and ENTER is on the right...
WELCOME
Cross Wordle combines the challenge of crosswords with the excitement of Wordle. Your objective is to find all the words in the puzzle within a specified number of guesses.
GAME VARIATIONS
Want a quick game? Want more of a challenge? Each time you play, you have the opportunity to customize your game and select the number of words in the puzzle, as well as the number of letters in each word. In addition, there are two main game modes:
Flexible: At any point in the game, you can choose which word you want to solve
Serial: For advanced players - you have to solve words sequentially in a predetermined order
HOW TO PLAY
Enter your guess using the keyboard. Your input will appear in the guess panel for review. Only valid words from the Scrabble dictionary are accepted. Upon pressing ENTER, your guess is applied to all words in the puzzle, with results color-coded as follows:
Green: Letter in the correct location
Orange: Letter exists in the word, but is in the wrong location
White: Letter doesn't exist in the word
DISPLAYING PUZZLE STATUS
General Status
The main puzzle panel provides a cumulative view of all previous guesses, allowing you to track your overall progress and identify the words that are closest to being solved. However, to solve a particular word, you need to view the detailed status.
Detailed Status
Select any word in the main puzzle panel to view its specific information:
Keyboard: Displays used letters and their status relative to the hidden word. Green and Orange status denote the usual status. Grey status means the letter has been used, but does not exist in the word. White status means the letter has not been tried.
Status: Shows all guesses made and their letter matches (scrollable for larger puzzles)
Correct: Indicates which letters are correct and their positions.
Intersection Status
The keen observer will notice that in the examples shown above, some cells on the main puzzle display are “split” and contain two different colors. The reason is that those cells are shared by both the “across” and the “down” word, and as a result can have different status values and different display requirements. How the split is displayed is varied to best fit the intersection or overlap situation. Lastly, once a word has been solved, the split in its intersection cells willbe replaced with a single letter is displayed at full size
Solved Status
Once you guess at all the letters in a specific word, the cells in that word will all turn green, and the hidden word will be displayed.
WINNING THE GAME
To win, you need to solve all the words before the number of guesses drops to zero.
TIPS and TRICKS
There only a few suggestions to make:
Cross-Reference Words: When in “Standard” or “Custom” mode, use the intersection status of one word to inform your strategy for the connecting word
Quick Delete of a Guess: When you enter a guess and it turns red because it doesn't exist, you can press ENTER and the whole word will be removed. Saves pressing DEL many times over.
Solved Words Must be Guessed: In some cases, you may end up with the Detailed Status showing all letters as correct, but the word doesn’t show up on the main puzzle display as “solved”. That is because the “correct” status is a culmination of multiple guesses, and you got lucky! To truly “solve” the word, you need to enter all those letters as one guess.
